Myrrh - CommiphoraMyrrha

Source - Resin

Production Method - Steam Distilled

Origin - Somalia

Description - Myrrh was one of the gifts of the Magi or wise men (Mt 2:11). Legend says Caspar brought the gift of myrrh from Europe or Tarsus and placed it before the Christ Child. Because of myrrh's various medicinal uses this gift represents Christ's human nature, the Suffering Savior, the Great Physician, and the Passion. Myrrh has been used since ancient times as a sacred incense, a perfume, and as a therapeutic agent. It has a rich, smoky, balsamic odor and is soothing to the skin, centering, visualizing and meditative. Myrrh is one of the oldest-known perfume materials and has a long history of use as incense, especially with frankincense. Myrrh functions as an insect repellent, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory agent, and emollient. It blends well with clove, lavender, patchouli, and sandalwood.

Effects on the Mind - Purifying and restorative. Uplifting and revitalizing while soothing nervous tension. Great meditation aid.

Effects on the Body - Myrrh essential oil is a warm, sweet, earthy oil valued for use in respiratory preparations, skin formulas, treating wounds, and as a meditative aid. It may also be added to cream for protecting against cracking and chapping in the cold. It is classified as being toning, stimulating, and soothing.

Note - Base

Blends Well With - Spices and oriental bases, Sandalwood, Frankincense. Lavender, Benzoin, Geranium, Mandarin Orange, Mints, Patchouli, Cypress, pine etc. Great fixative, that binds other more volatile aromas and makes them last longer.

Cautions - Do not apply this oil directly to the skin without being diluted in a carrier oil first.
